Trip.com App and points system

The Trip.com app is much basic but easier to use compared with the apps of hotels.com and booking.com

One of the notable differences with this app, compared with other apps is the fact it has a "Trip Planner" tab for all your booked flights, hotels, and vehicle rides. Another tab is for deals, which can be useful if you are eyeing out for a deal.

Why Trip.com?
Trip.com like Hotels.com, Expedia, or Booking.com is a travel bookings website for flights, hotels/hostels, trains (selected countries), car hire, and tours.

Trip.com is useful as hotels and flight bookings accrue "Trip.com Coins" that do not expire and eligible for discounts for your next booking for flights and hotels.

I have used trip.com for some flights and compared with it with direct airline flight ticket prices, at times, they can be slightly cheaper or the same price. At times its more expensive. I tend to book when its cheaper or around the same price (slightly higher price too), because if you book directly on a foreign airline website will (at times) charge your credit card the local currency (not your main currency eg. AUD in my case). This will incur foreign transaction fees on your credit card account, which can make it more expensive, plus you get the Coins and you can get your Airline Frequent Flyer points too.

Hotel Bookings

I have tried a number of times, booking with hotels/hostels with trip.com only accepts Visa or Mastercard. Unfortunately American Express and Diners Club are not accept. Also charges maybe charged to your account in the foreign currency rather than your local currency (something for you to consider).

On the bright side, some accommodations have the option of you paying on arrival and others have only pay before you stay. Any bookings on trip.com will accrue trip coins.

The best advice I can give to you is to compare the prices of the same accommodation with booking.com, hotels.com, and hostelworld. If its the same price or cheaper, I might as well book with trip.com.
